Czech Woods, Autumn
23 x 16 cm, oil on board

The Czech Republic is chock full of woods and hills, villages and cottages, mushrooms edible and not so edible, and people here roam freely and often. I painted this from a photo taken on a walk in the woods west of Prague. I didn't consciously try to emulate any style (impressionism) - though I did consult Corot and Pissarro when my trees weren't doing what I wanted. Mainly I was going after the colors and the contrasts, like Czechs hunting for mushrooms in autumn.
